Each September, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Rodeo brings our community together to celebrate western heritage while raising funds to support youth organizations throughout San Bernardino County.
Through the Saddle Up Charity, our Youth Outreach Coordinators are committed to introducing local youth to the traditions of rodeo, horsemanship, and the western way of life. Our goal is to create meaningful experiences for children while helping ensure these traditions continue for generations to come.
One of the highlights of our outreach efforts is the Saddle Up Horse Camp, offered free of charge to selected youth from our community. During this hands-on experience, participants have the opportunity to interact with horses while learning the basics of horse handling, grooming, bathing, care, and horsemanship.
But the experience doesn't end when camp is over. Each participant receives a brand-new pair of cowboy boots and complimentary horseback riding lessons, giving them the opportunity to continue building their confidence, skills, and connection with horses.
Through Saddle Up, we hope to do more than introduce kids to horses—we strive to create lasting memories, open doors to new experiences, and inspire the next generation to carry forward the western heritage that is such an important part of our community.
